Quantitative and Genre Dynamics of Film Production of Soviet and Russian Films related to the Subject of the School and University

European Researcher. Series A, 2017, 8(3): 122-153.
DOI: 10.13187/er.2017.3.122CrossRef

Abstract:
The so-called stagnation period (1969-1985) is the peak of interest in the school / university topic on the Soviet/Russian screen: 127 films (36.4 % of the total number of films on this topic) appeared on the country's screens. The second place is the Russian period (1992-2017) – 93 films (26.7 %). A notable drop in the number of films about the school and university was noted in the 1990s, and this was due to a general decrease in film production in Russia. The period from 1919 to 2017 has the specific genre situation in the school / university film topic: drama – 220 (63.0 %), comedy – 82 (23.5 %), melodrama – 36 (10.3%). The dramatic genre was especially prevalent (about 90 % of all films about the school and university) between 1919 and 1955 and during the "perestroika" period, while the peaks of the production of comedies fell on the Russian period: 41 % of all films on the school and university theme and the period "stagnation", when this type of tape accounted for a fourth. Dominant of the drama is quite understandable: not only school and college subjects, but the cinema as a whole was primarily focused on the dramatic genre in the Soviet time. Comedies and melodramas grew more in the years of relative social stability, while dramatic stories dominated the years when confrontation prevailed in society.

Tracking the fate of graduates of the Moscow agrarian institute it can be concluded that indeed a brilliant scientist can be if they getting a proper a good education. In any time a tragic figure A.V. Chayanov did not disappear from view of scientists, researchers. Experts to develop his concept, historians of science talk about his life and tragic death. A.V. Chayanov – the classic agrarian-economic scientist, his theory of the peasant economy and peculiarities of economic behavior of farms at now exist in every textbook on agrarian economy of many universities in the world. His General textbooks on Economics included the special part highly important for the whole world, which explains the motivation of enterprises in which the owner is at the same time also an employee, including Russian Economy. It was in contradiction to collective behavior and attitude of the community, which was inoculated and dominated in the USSR in relation of politic of Stalin and his followers. All these reasons became part of the personal biography of many of us, but haven’t affected, despite the hard circumstances, the attitudes of A.V. Chayanov and many others. Currently, the work of Chayanov was of paramount importance for modern Russia. The role of science in society is growing rapidly and in the new Russian society, but yet the realization that the pace of science development is the indicator of mental and physical health of the nation and the state is absent.

A Study on Human Trafficking with Special Focus on Tribal Women of Jharkhand

European Researcher. Series A, 2017, 8(3): 176-182.
DOI: 10.13187/er.2017.3.176CrossRef

Abstract:
The sale for women and girls accounts for the greatest proportion of human trafficking in India and globally too, trafficking of women and girls is an offence against humanity and is an organized crime. In India the State Jharkhand is acting as the illegal industry’s largest national hub. An estimated 33,000 girls are trafficked each year from Jharkhand. Most of such victims of trafficking and exploitation are below 18 and illiterate or semi-literate and are forced to work in household, brothels, restraints and factories. Human trafficking is one of the most heinous forms of organized crime and violation of human rights in the world and makes a mockery of basic human rights of the vulnerable. It victimizes men, women, and girls for various purposes such as labor in factories, farms, and private households, sexual exploitation, and forced marriage. Traffickers take into account neither law nor national system and their only objective is profit, by trafficking in human beings. Whether through abduction or fraud, they deceive desperate people whose dream of being freed from poverty is transformed into the worst of nightmares. Trafficking affects all regions and most countries of the world, Inequalities and growing demand for cheap, disempowered labor are just some of the underlying causes that have been identified. The exploitation of individuals for profit has a long history and dates from well before the birth of the modern human rights system. Since the issue of human trafficking in Jharkhand is a wide phenomenon, the research is exclusively focusing on cause of trafficking of the adivasi (tribes) women and girls of Sahibganj district, Jharkhand, India. This research is concentrated on two blocks of Sahibganj district of Jharkhand.

Hermeneutic Analysis of Soviet Films of the “Thaw” Epoch (1954-1968) about University Students

European Researcher. Series A, 2017, 8(3): 183-200.
DOI: 10.13187/er.2017.3.183CrossRef

Abstract:
The article presents the results of the hermeneutic analysis of Soviet films of the “thaw” period (1954-1968) about university students. It compares the media texts to the cultural and historic tradition and reality of the “thaw” epoch. The research objective was to analyze and characterize the cultural and historical contexts, define the role and value of the university topic in the mirror of the Soviet cinema in terms of social studies, culture studies, film studies, anthropology, gender studies and media education. The author of the article concludes that the Soviet cinematography of the “thaw” epoch based on the communist ideology: 1) placed special emphasis on moral education and overall youth culture promotion; 2) propagandized a humanist ideal of the film character – a romantic protagonist whose moral and human properties appeal to the audience; 3) used stereotyped role and gender media text character profiles; 4) broadened the scope of problems, narrative and genre range of media texts about university and students; 5) presented the media image of the Soviet student more realistically in comparison to the cinematography of the Stalinism epoch; 6) presented an idealized media image of the university teacher as a true professional and transmitter of humanistic moral values and code of conduct; 7) created an idealized media image of the Soviet university in conformity with the government social policy of disseminating the idea of higher education among young people; 8) sometimes allowed the production of politically and ideologically neutral media texts; 9) altered the concept “struggle” in media texts about youth and created for youth: the focus shifted from the ideological or/and political struggle onto the moral and/or social struggle.

The Modern Models of Psychological and Pedagogical Support of Gifted Children

European Researcher. Series A, 2017, 8(3): 201-211.
DOI: 10.13187/er.2017.3.201CrossRef

Abstract:
The article presents the research results on the modeling and design of professional activities in support of gifted children. The material for the analysis were scientific works, which describe both the results of modeling functioning psychological and pedagogical objects, and the existing (proposed) models of the process of psychological and pedagogical support of gifted children. Based on the system analysis and comparative approach, there is considered the composition, structure (methodological, target, content, structural, technological, management components), hierarchy of model components, and key design problems of each of them. It is shown that the psychological and pedagogical support of gifted children in educational organizations, built on the basis of theoretical models, is not without serious shortcomings. The ways of overcoming the revealed model errors are suggested. The analysis of theoretical models of the process of psychological and pedagogical support of gifted children will make it possible to simulate this process at a better level and avoid the significant errors in modeling.

Willingness to Communicate in English as a Foreign Language in Bosnian-Herzegovinian EFL Context

European Researcher. Series A, 2017, 8(3): 224-235.
DOI: 10.13187/er.2017.3.224CrossRef

Abstract:
Willingness to communicate (WTC) has recently been extensively investigated in the field of language study, especially in second language acquisition studies and communication studies. Studies suggest that WTC is an important tool that can facilitate language learning. Hence, the aim of instructors when teaching a language should be to increase the students’ WTC. The aim of this study is to explore the Bosnian-Herzegovinian university students’ willingness to communicate in English as a foreign language in different situational and interpersonal contexts. For that purpose, the Willingness to Communicate Questionnaire (McCroskey, Richmond, 2013) was utilized. The instrument consists of seven sub-scales: group discussion, meetings, interpersonal, public speaking, friend, acquaintance, stranger and it consists of 20 items. The research sample consists of 193 students from three universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, two public universities and one private university. The results show that students’ grade level, type of university and GPA significantly affect their willingness to communicate, while gender, nationality, or the number of foreign languages that students speak do not affect their WTC. Since this concept has not been studied broadly in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian EFL context, findings of this quantitative study might facilitate the process of setting pedagogical aims in English language instruction in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with special emphasis on WTC.

European Researcher. Series A, 2017, 8(3): 245-255.
DOI: 10.13187/er.2017.3.245CrossRef

Abstract:
The problem of therapeutic communication implementation is the main issue that frequently happens in Indonesia nursing services. Education and training efforts in enhancing therapeutic communication implementation have been realized, however it did not get optimal result yet so that innovation is highly needed, especially coaching intervention. This research is to comprehend and analyze the influence of coaching towards therapeutic communication implementation. Research design utilizes semi-experiment with pre and post-test control group. Sampling method is by using Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. The total of sample is 32 respondents comprising of 15 respondents from treatment group and 16 respondents from control group. Testing analysis using paired t test reveals that there is an effect of coaching toward therapeutic communication implementation on treatment group which means difference (75.32 and 26.62) higher than control group (18.81 and 11.44). Result of testing analysis using independent t test shows the difference of therapeutic communication implementation on both groups. On pre-test, there is no mean difference, while on post-test, there is mean difference. Influence of coaching towards therapeutic communication implementation is there. It is suggested for hospital to use coaching in order to enhance therapeutic communication implementation.

Interaction of ‘Greater’ and ‘Minor’ Cultures in Late Imperial China: Case of Popular Woodblock Prints Nianhua from the V. Alekseev’s Collection

European Researcher. Series A, 2017, 8(3): 256-267.
DOI: 10.13187/er.2017.3.256CrossRef

Abstract:
The paper examines explanatory notes written by the Chinese mentors (xiansheng 先生) for the popular prints nianhua年畫collected by the Russian sinologist Vasily Alexeev (1881–1951) during his studies in China in 1906–1909. The studied portion of the noted is stored in the archives of the State Museum of History of Religion (Saint-Petersburg). These commentators possess higher or lower level of learning in Confucian classics and traditional literature; some of them are industry insiders with good knowledge of pictures’ meanings. The paper views their notes as a representation of ‘the greater culture’ evaluation or commenting on ‘the minor culture’ of the popular prints. Closer reading of the mentors’ notes reveals their intention to show off rudimentary knowledge of the classics, which is not always relevant to the content or questions raised by V. Alekseev.
